China exempts goods produced in Macau from customs duty
The benefits given to Macau also extended to Hong Kong and are included in the adjustment programme of imports, including reductions in customs duties for goods produced in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Iceland and South Korea.
The tariffs on products from Singapore, Chile and from the Association of South East Asian Nations as well as some countries of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (India, Laos, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines and Mongolia) will remain unchanged.
The statement from the Finance Ministry also said that the changes were based on high demand for advanced equipment, raw materials and energy.
The tariffs on goods such as tuna and components for the pharmaceutical industry will be lowered so as to increase consumer choice and contribute to the improvement of the health of the population.
