EDB clinches Asia's Best Employer Brand Award (Daily Financial Times (Sri Lanka))
Sri Lanka’s apex export facilitator, the Export Development Board (EDB), has clinched a top global talent award and has also emerged as a pioneer Lankan public institution to win the coveted accolade.
The EDB has won Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards 2015 as recognition for the valuable contribution made by it to be the most Sought-after employer. I am pleased to say that we won this award having competed against 33 countries, said EDB Chairman and CEO Bandula Egodage recently in Colombo.
Egodage was addressing EDB staff on 16 August at a special meeting to announce the achievement. Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards are hosted by the Employer Branding Institute, the World HRD Congress and the Stars of the Industry Group and is endorsed by the Asian Confederation of Businesses. The EDB was given the award at the sixth Asia Best Employer Brand Awards 2015 ceremony held in Singapore on 12 August.
The EDB is also the pioneering Lankan state institution to receive this award. The Airport and Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka was the only other Lankan state institution which was picked for this award apart from the EDB. Apart from the EDB’s contribution to the national economy, the judges informed us that they had also perused EDB’s talent, human resource retaining ratio and strategies, EDB’s international exposure and e-marketing initiatives. Their observation was that there’s a tremendous improvement in these aspects within the EDB.
Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards is considered among the most authoritative awards in the industry.
