Kien Giang provincial planning by 2030 targets the Western Hau River region to have strong agricultural and fishery processing industries, and labour-intensive manufacturing industries. This will be a strongly developed region in high-tech agriculture, specialising in high-quality rice production, fruit trees, and aquaculture. In recent years, farmers in Kien Giang province pioneer changes towards a high-tech agricultural production sector, bringing high economic returns. In particular, farmers use drones instead of manual labour to plant seeds, spray fertiliser and pesticides. It is estimated that the high spraying capacity saves up to 30% of fertilisers and pesticides. The cost of spraying is 97% lower compared to conventional spraying methods. Source: Vietnam News Agency
