Sri Lanka will hold constitutional a referendum after being presented to Parliament , Leader of the House and Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella says.

The minister revealed this at the opening ceremony of a new four storied women’s hostel at the Eastern Province. Kiriella said countries like Singapore, Malaysia had solved their problems and developed their economies but unfortunately Sri Lanka had failed to do so. “I believe that we can create a constitution acceptable to everybody. We will present the new constitution within the next two months to Parliament and hold a referendum. We will get the consent of the people instead of forcing the new constitution upon them” he said.
