This girl matched with a gold-medal winning Olympic swimmer on Tinder – but ignored him

by August 15, 2016 General

Last Friday, Joseph Schooling, 21, from Singapore, won Olympic gold in the 100m butterfly event, beating Michael Phelps himself.

Which, of course, is a huge achievement.

University of Texas student, Sabryna Salazar, was watching the race and the name Joseph Schooling rang a bell.

“I was watching Michael Phelps in the 100m butterfly race and then Joseph won. I noticed the name sounded familiar and the announcers kept saying he was a Longhorn (a University of Texas athlete) so I looked back through my Tinder matches and found out it was him,” the 20-year-old told MailOnline.

Yup, Sabrina had matched with him on the dating app back in April and after a brief conversation, ignored him.

Which she is kinda regretting now.

Het tweet has gone viral – and even her mam can’t believe she let this one go.

“Honestly, I just thought it was hilarious that we had matched at one point. It’s pretty crazy to think you’ve had an interaction with an Olympic gold medal winner,” she said.

Something to consider next time you absent-mindedly swipe through Tinder.
