The northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang completed its plan of growing 6 million trees in early June under the Prime Minister's 'planting a billion trees for 2021-2025' project, one year ahead of schedule, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. According to the Prime Minister's project, 1 billion trees will be planted nationwide by the end of 2025. Of the figure, 690 million will be in urban and rural areas and 310 million in protected, special and production forests. The project aims to protect the ecosystem, improve the scenery, respond to climate change, boost socio-economic development, raise people's living standards, and foster the sustainable growth of the country.
