World and Finals MVP Elliott banner ABL awardees

TOP DOG. (from L-R: Hong Kong coach Edu Torres, Alab Pilipinas’ Ray Parks Jr., ABL CEO Jericho Ilagan, Hong Kong’s Tyler Lamb and Marcus Elliott, Singapore’s Justin Howard) Marcus Elliott proved to be the difference for Hong Kong all season long.

Champion. MVP-World. MVP in the Finals.

Without a doubt, the 2016-2017 Asean Basketball League has turned out to be quite the dream season for Marcus Elliott.

The pointman of king of the hill Hong Kong averaged 24.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.3 steals in the elimination round to prove his worth as the MVP among World Imports.

This, even as he led the first-year squad to a sustained league-lead in the elimination round.

Elliott then did himself better under the brightest lights and on the biggest stage with per game counts of 23.3 points, seven rebounds, and 5.8 assists while steering the Eastern Long Lions to a well-deserved 3-1 series win against Singapore in the Finals.

In doing so, he left no doubt that he was the difference between Hong Kong and Singapore.

Meanwhile, Elliott’s teammate Tyler Lamb was named as MVP among Asean Heritage Imports. Their coach, Edu Torres, was hailed as top mentor.

Rounding out the individual awards, Slinger Justin Howard stood tall as the Defensive Player of the Year.
