Permanent Secretary of Interior Mandates Strict Security for New Year Festivities

Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has directed all provincial governors to implement rigorous security protocols to safeguard public safety during the New Year's Eve celebrations in 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, the Permanent Secretary, stated that the Ministry of Interior was guided by the Cabinet Secretariat's directive to adhere to the Cabinet resolution dated December 30, 2025. This directive, endorsed by the Prime Minister, focuses on public safety during the upcoming New Year festivities.

Mr. Arsit emphasized that governors across all 76 provinces have been tasked with ensuring national security and protecting the lives and properties of citizens. Special instructions were given to governors in the seven Thai-Cambodian border provinces to work closely with security agencies and other relevant organizations. These governors are to maintain vigilant surveillance along the border and be prepared to manage any incidents that may arise. They must also ensure that food, water, and essential supplies are available should evacuations become necessary.

Additionally, Mr. Arsit instructed all provincial governors to collaborate with the police and other agencies within their jurisdictions. This cooperation aims to facilitate travel for citizens returning to their hometowns or tourist destinations and to guarantee the public's overall safety and security.
