Thailand’s New Year Celebrations Attract Tourists to Phayao, Khon Kaen, and Phuket

Bangkok: Thailand is buzzing with activity as people flock to holiday destinations to celebrate the New Year and await the countdown tonight. Counting down to the New Year with “Amazing Thailand Phayao Countdown” amidst the beauty of Kwan Phayao Lake. Meanwhile, crowds flocked to Khon Kaen Zoo, offering free admission until January 4th next year. Phuket’s old town was bustling with activity as people took photos of its landmarks.

According to Thai News Agency, Phayao is considered another popular destination for tourists to celebrate New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, after the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) designated it as one of the country’s most promising cities for New Year’s Eve countdown celebrations, amidst the beauty of Kwan Phayao Lake.

Families flocked to Khon Kaen Zoo, which offers free admission until January 4th next year. Despite the long journey within the city, the experience was filled with joy and warmth. Ms. Tipawadee Kittikun, director of Khon Kaen Zoo, revealed that the zoo has prepared special activities to welcome visitors, including a Christmas tree photo spot, mascot dance performances, seal talent shows, a capybara parade, and a chance to see baby red kangaroos. Meanwhile, in Khon Kaen province, the highlight of the event at midnight will be a fireworks display to celebrate the end of the old year and welcome the new, which will create a memorable experience for the many locals and tourists attending the event.

The New Year holiday tourism atmosphere in Phuket is starting to liven up, especially in the old town area. Both Thai and foreign tourists are strolling around the city and taking photos at key landmarks. The Charter Bank intersection, in particular, is beautifully decorated this year, featuring Santa Claus and his wife Santa Claus on the old Talat Yai police station building, along with a large Christmas tree, snow effects, and colorful Christmas lights. This has created a stunning spectacle for locals and tourists, with many stopping their cars to take photos as souvenirs. Along Thalang Road, in addition to taking photos with the Sino-Portuguese style buildings, tourists also strolled around shopping for souvenirs, and enjoyed the restaurants and cafes, creating a lively commercial atmosphere. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket office anticipates a bright outlook for Phuket’s tourism during the New Year period, generating at least 1.1 billion baht in revenue from domestic tourists.
