Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has announced the voting procedure for the upcoming elections to ensure that the public is well-informed about the process.
According to Thai News Agency, the elections will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This election will require voters to use three ballots: one for constituency Members of Parliament (MPs), one for political parties, and one for the referendum.
The ECT has outlined a ten-step process for voting in the parliamentary elections. Voters are first advised to check the list of eligible voters. Before entering the polling booth, individuals should remember their ranking number, the candidate number for their constituency, and the number of the political party they will vote for. Voters must also prepare their identification documents, such as a National ID card, other photo identification, or the ThaiDLT QRLICENCE application, along with their disability card if applicable.
Voters must sign or fingerprint the voter registration list for parliamentary elections and present their identification to the election committee member, informing them of their number in the voting sequence. They should then proceed to vote for Members of Parliament at the designated polling station according to their household registration. If voters choose not to select any candidate or party, they can mark an X in the respective "Do not select" boxes on the ballots.
Upon receiving the parliamentary election ballot, voters are required to sign the ballot stub. They will receive two ballot papers: one for the constituency election and one for the party-list election, along with proof of identity. In the polling booth, voters should mark an X in the designated box on both ballots; constituency-based ballots allow for the selection of only one candidate, and party-list ballots allow for the selection of only one political party.
After marking their choices, voters must fold and place the ballots into the correct ballot boxes. The process continues with the referendum, where voters identify themselves to exercise their right to vote. They will receive a referendum ballot after signing or fingerprinting the voter registration list for the referendum. In the voting booth, they mark their choice in the "Agree," "Disagree," or "No comment" option, then fold and place the referendum ballot into the ballot box.
Finally, voters are to leave the polling station through the designated exit after casting their referendum ballot. This comprehensive process aims to ensure that the elections are conducted smoothly and transparently.
